Common Ground Kolektiv
27 Middle Grey Project

Project Description
The 27 Middle Grey Project invites photographers in the diaspora to document their lives through a 27-narrative visual, using 27 exposures from a disposable camera. This initiative, led by Common Ground Kolektiv (CGK), celebrates the diverse stories, identities, and experiences of displacement, belonging, and resilience. Each participant crafts a unique narrative—unbound by rules—through themes like colours, moods, activities, or personal reflections on life in the diaspora. Your 27 frames become a tribute to your journey, capturing fleeting moments that resonate across borders and time.
Guidelines
Participants have two options to complete their project:
-
Option 1: One Photo Per Day
Upon nomination, take one photo daily for 27 days. Each image should reflect your story, a theme, an expression, or a creative thought about life in the diaspora. Choose a focus—colors, emotions, routines, or anything meaningful to you—and build a cohesive narrative through your lens. -
Option 2: One Day, 27 Photos
Capture 27 photos in a single day, documenting the rhythm, texture, or essence of your diasporic life. Your images should weave a story, unrestricted by theme, that speaks to your experience.
